Design Fundamentals

Design Theory Meets AI Course

A practical, small group design workshop for entrepreneurs and creative professionals who want to make more intentional visual decisions and use AI prompting to develop clear, considered design ideas.

Learn to move from an initial idea to a coherent visual direction and practical creative assets. No previous AI experience required.

In Person Workshop. Maximum 10 participants.

The Learning Journey

From idea to visual direction

The course moves through four connected stages, each building on the last. Together they take you from an unformed creative impulse to a visual direction you can share, apply, and build on.

01

Idea

Begin with what you already sense — a feeling, a problem, a creative instinct. You’ll learn to name and frame your starting point with enough clarity to work with it deliberately.

02

Prompt

Translate your idea into language that AI tools can respond to usefully. You’ll practise writing prompts that generate genuine direction rather than generic imagery — and learn how to iterate when the first result falls short.

03

Visual direction

Shape your raw AI output into a coherent visual language — one with a consistent tone, atmosphere, and logic. You’ll develop the eye to select, curate, and refine rather than accept whatever comes first.

04

Practical company asset

Bring everything together into something real and usable. Each stage of the journey produces work your organisation can actually apply — not just a mood board, but a considered foundation for ongoing creative decisions.

Course Content

What you’ll explore

Design thinking

Build a more intentional creative process. Learn how to frame problems clearly and use structured thinking to move from vague instinct to articulate design decisions.

Writing effective AI prompts

Discover how to talk to AI tools with intention. Craft prompts that generate useful, relevant ideas rather than generic output — and learn to refine and iterate with confidence.

Developing visual direction

Move beyond mood boards. Use AI as a thinking partner to develop a coherent visual language — exploring tone, style, and atmosphere in a way that feels considered and authentic.

Audience

Who this is for

This course is for anyone who works with ideas. Whether you have a formal design background or not. Designers looking to bring more rigour to their process, founders who need to communicate a visual vision, and creative professionals navigating new tools. You will all find something here. No prior experience with AI is expected. All that’s needed is curiosity and a willingness to think carefully about what you make.

Learning Experience

A considered learning experience

This course is designed to feel welcoming rather than demanding. The pace is steady and the exercises are practical — you work with real creative challenges from the very beginning, building confidence as you go. There is no single right answer to design thinking, and the course reflects that: it offers a framework to work within, not a formula to follow. You are encouraged to bring your own context and to move at a speed that suits your way of learning.

By the end, you will have a clearer understanding of your own creative instincts, a set of practical prompting skills, and work you have made yourself. The learning is cumulative and self-directed — you can revisit any section as your practice develops.
